How Do You Feel About Money?
Do you Love it, or Hate it?
Do you care about it, or don’t care about it?
I ‘m going to be very blunt when I say we live on a planet that runs on money. You may disagree. You may say it’s not about money. But… try to stop paying your rent/mortgage… see what happens.
We may need to readjust our thinking about money, don’t you think? Many people I speak to actually fear money. If you’re one of them, let me say…money will listen and stay away!
Many of us were taught that “money is the root of all evil”. To add to this idea…we were told that it comes from the Bible, which for some, gives this idea more weight, more power. If this idea was imprinted at a young age, whether we still hold true to Biblical beliefs or not, the imprint about money STAYS. Well, what we were told is partly right, but it is a MISQUOTED Bible verse. It actually says “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. Interesting, right? So we can, however, love what it can do for you and for others. We can make great changes in our world, using money!
Money is a tool not unlike your car. It is the person using the car that decides the benefit or lack of benefit. It’s the person driving that may be sober or drunk. The car strictly goes where it is directed.Money works just like a car. The person using the money can use it for positive or negative impacts. The money, like the car, is strictly used as directed.
Even though people are killed by cars every day, you don’t see people giving up their cars because they’ve come to believe the car is evil, or bad! We understand that’s it’s a car and that we can control it.
We need to think the same way about money, if we are to draw more to us. Once we change our attitude about it we can start putting in place the thoughts and actions necessary to draw it.
I was involved in helping to build a water well in Africa last year. The well has changed the lives of many people in that area. Yes, there were a lot of good people involved, and it could have never happened without money. Money puts a roof over your head, food in your belly, and clothes on your back. It can also put a roof of your choosing, food of your choosing and whatever clothing you choose on your back and the backs of those you love and care for!
It’s OK to love what money can do. Many good things come from money AND from the person who wants to do good with it. You simply need to respect it, just as we respect what a car can do.
Everything costs money. A better house, raising children and giving them and education, vacations, curing a deadly disease, feeding the homeless all cost money.
Bill Gates is the biggest philanthropist in the world because of money. His love for helping others would mean almost nothing without the financial freedom he has. He gives approximately 50% of what he earns to others! He earns well, so he gives extremely well. It is the heart of the person that matters when it comes to where the money is used.
Changing a paradigm regarding money can change your life. Accepting that money is OK…better than OK, and that you deserve it, is half the battle.
I’ve spoken here about earning money and helping others, but it is important to take care of our own needs first. The airbag-in-the-plane example applies here! “Secure your own mask before helping others.” Another might be “Take the log out of your own eye before you help another with theirs!” Haha..a little levity there 😛
Do you want to make the world a better place? Do you want to do good in the world? Earn enough money to take care of you and your family, (which in and of itself helps the world) then help others!
