The 2 MUST Have Factors In Building Your Brand

  Be Authentic & Unique For the last few days I’ve been attending the SFM/DEA’s “Brand Incubator” Workshop, and since our philosophy is “what you learn, share”, I thought I’d share a nugget from these meetings. Most of us have a basic understanding on the idea of branding when it comes to businesses like Apple, Nike, Google, McDonald’s, etc. If you have a product or company like that, this may be your goal…to have a brand identity that is so unique, so connected to your company, that it is instantly recognized. But for many of us as entrepreneurs, it is more important to “brand” yourself. I learned during my MLM days that there were certain leaders that were almost bigger than the company. They built a following that would literally follow him/her anywhere. If the company folded, they’d follow that one leader. If he/she decided to join a new MLM, they’d follow. These leaders saw the power in developing their own personal “brand” as opposed to the company brand. Developing your personal brand is a BIG process, too big for one email. However, I do want to share a couple of very key points. The 2 most important factors in building your “brand”  1) Be Authentic – The days of people being able to sell refrigerators to Eskimos are gone. People are much smarter, much more aware, and have access to information instantly online. For example, when you were young, in the days of vinyl, or even CD’s, you could be sold an album because of one song only to find out that was the only song that you liked on the entire album!
