As you are getting to know me, one of the first things you’ll discover is that I meditate. It is widely known, and science has confirmed that meditating is good for us. It is good for the body, mind and soul. It helps to connect us with our true selves. Physically, it has been shown that meditating reduces stress…and we all know what stress does to the body…
Some research suggests that meditation may help people manage symptoms of conditions such as:
- Anxiety disorders
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Sleep problems
For the mind, Meditation has been shown to improve concentration. I have found this to be so true. It improves our ability to make better choices for ourselves; better food choices, better health choices, better friend choices! It all matters…
Meditation increases self-awareness. Through meditation, we’re able to more consistently be in touch with our hearts, and being in touch with our hearts makes us better…more grateful!
There are different forms of meditation. Search for, and find the one that is right for you. When you give it a try, you will receive the benefits, the gift of knowing and loving yourself in such a beautiful way.
I once heard Oprah define meditation as she sees it: when we pray, we are talking to God. When we meditate in silence, we are listening to God. Clearing the “noise” in your mind is always a good thing. I’m sure you’ve all had the experience of trying to solve something but couldn’t, until you stepped away from the problem. Then, without even thinking about it, the answer came to you. It is amazing what happens when we silence our thoughts!
Over the past couple of years I’ve enjoyed the Oprah Winfrey & Deepak Chopra series of meditations. They are free, at beginners’ level, and I find them very beautiful. What I really like is that each series has its own theme… like “Energy of Attraction” or “Expanding Your Happiness”.
Oprah and Deepak are doing another 21-day free meditation series starting on Monday, March 16th. The series is titled, “Manifesting True Success“. Go to www.chopracentermeditation.com to sign up.
I will periodically remind everyone as the date gets closer. You’re welcome to email me back if you decide to sign up for it.
Have a blessed day!
